Within the Grove is a collection of garments honoring the women who have been the backbone of craft throughout history. The project emphasizes the hard, laborious work women have undertaken from the Middle Ages to the present day. It uses secondhand materials collected from women worldwide, creating a curated archive of diverse lives and stories. The work highlights traditional methods such as hand sewing, hand knitting, and weaving, while consciously using only the exact amount of material needed to minimize waste. Through this approach, Within the Grove foregrounds sustainable craftsmanship and the deep connection between material, labor, and heritage. The collection stands as a tribute to women’s contributions to craft and explores how textile practices can preserve both history and sustainability.
