My senior thesis collection was inspired by the feeling you get being at a beach at night near the ocean, where I wanted to highlight the contrasting beauty on its surface and the chaos inside. 70 percent of my final fabrics, trimmings, and finishes were salvaged from the overflowing bins of fabric I scoured to find on a weekly basis at FABSCRAP. Most of my collection is knitwear where I repurposed bins of novelty yarns I had kept in my basement and collected from thrift stores over the years. At first, going to FABSCRAP was a way to afford making my collection, but then I noticed I wanted to redefine where luxury should be sourced and hopefully lessen the impact in landfill waste today.
