This project was an investigation into how different textile manipulation techniques can be combined and applied to the up-cycling of scrap fabrics. This includes natural dying using food waste such as avocado, cabbage, and black tea. Additional dyes used were iron water, rust, and mold. In addition, I used techniques including block printing, beading, and quilting. The goal was to create a dynamic piece that could be something to display as an art piece, or worn in a variety of different configurations. Materials: Cotton, linen, jute, and hemp fabrics, avocado, cabbage, black tea, iron, rust, and mold dyes, jaquard textile pigment, and soy wax.
